Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information at Partmade3D.

1. Introduction

Partmade3D ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you visit our website 3dprintpartmade.com and use our 3D printing services.

This policy complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Australia), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for European visitors. By using our website, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide our industrial 3D printing services and improve your experience. This includes:

2.1 Personal Information You Provide

  • Contact details — name, email address, phone number, company name, and billing address when you request a quote or contact us.
  • CAD files — STL, OBJ, STEP, and other 3D model files you upload for quotation or production. These may contain embedded metadata about the designer or company.
  • Project specifications — material preferences, quantity, turnaround time, and any notes you provide about your 3D printing requirements.
  • Communications — emails, messages, and feedback you send to our team.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and browser data — IP address, browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preferences.
  • Usage data — pages visited, time spent on site, referral sources, and click patterns. This helps us improve our 3D printing cost estimator and service pages.
  • Cookies — small text files stored on your device to remember preferences and analyse traffic. See Section 7 for more details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following legitimate business purposes:

  • Service delivery — processing quotes, manufacturing your 3D printed parts, arranging shipping, and providing customer support.
  • Communication — responding to enquiries, sending order updates, and following up on quote requests.
  • Quality assurance — reviewing uploaded CAD files for printability, suggesting design improvements, and ensuring manufacturability.
  • Marketing — sending occasional newsletters, promotions, and industry updates (only with your consent, which you can withdraw anytime).
  • Analytics — understanding how visitors use our site to improve our 3D printing services, estimator tool, and content.
  • Legal compliance — fulfilling tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations under Australian law.

4. File Uploads & CAD Data Security

We take special care with the CAD files and technical data you upload:

  • Secure transmission — all file uploads use encrypted HTTPS connections.
  • Access control — only authorised Partmade3D engineers can access your files for quotation and production.
  • Deletion policy — CAD files uploaded for quotes are automatically deleted after 90 days unless you become a customer. Production files are retained for warranty and re-order purposes, then deleted after 2 years.
  • No reverse engineering — we will not reverse-engineer, copy, or commercialise your designs. Your intellectual property remains yours.
  • Confidentiality — if your project requires an NDA, we are happy to sign one before receiving files.

5. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted third parties who assist our operations: courier companies (for shipping), payment processors, and cloud hosting providers. They are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the business.

6. International Data Transfers

Partmade3D is based in Australia. If you access our site from outside Australia, your data may be processed on servers located in Australia, the United States (via our hosting and analytics providers), or other countries where our service providers operate.

We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses and compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

  • Password-protected administrative access.
  • Regular security audits and software updates.
